MEN’S MINISTRY

Mission Statement 

 

“Our mission is to build strong, godly men who pursue God, grow through authentic brotherhood and biblical teaching, and lead with purpose in their homes, church, workplace, and community.”


• Grow — Become the men God created us to be through a passionate and growing walk with Jesus Christ.

Colossians 2:6-7 — So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

 

• Connect — Strengthen one another through authentic brotherhood, accountability, and encouragement, recognizing that isolation is a tool of the enemy. 

Proverbs 27:17 — As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.

 

• Impact — Lead with purpose, serve with humility, and make a lasting impact for God in our families, church, and workplaces through servant leadership.

Mark 10:45 — “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many”

What to expect: 


We meet for men's bible study, weekly on Wednesday's. You can choose which time works best for you, 6:15am or 6:30pm; both meet upstairs in the Youth Worship Center.  There is also a monthly prayer breakfast at Heisey's on the first Saturday of each month at 8am. 


Join us for fellowship, service, one-on-one discipleship and worship events! 


There are various special events scheduled throughout the year, as well. 


 

About Joe Vangeli

Joe Vangeli has been serving as the Director of Men’s Ministry at Lebanon Free since 2022. Joe came to Christ through the AWANA program of a local church back in the 1960s. He served 20 years in the U.S. Army and 14 years as a Prison Chaplain & Chief Program Officer at Jubilee Ministries. Joe holds a B.A. in Biblical Studies from Trinity College of the Bible and enjoys helping men grow deeper in their walk with Jesus Christ. Joe met his wife Debbie at Fort Indiantown Gap during the Vietnamese refugee crisis. They’ve been married over 50 years and have 2 children, 9 grandchildren, and an overly active dog named Mia. 


Joe enjoys quiet times in the woods with God, day trips with Deb, spending time with family & friends, hiking, bicycling, fishing, wildlife viewing, historical sites, museums, antiquing, chocolate ice cream, and playing the banjo. He’s not a fan of green peppers or broccoli, but he’s passionate about all things involving Men’s Ministry!

About Mark Thompson


Mark Thompson has been serving as the Assistant Director of Men's Ministry beginning in early 2026. Mark came to Christ at the age of 18 before leaving for the Army in 2010. He and his wife Laura have been married for 15 years and have three wonderful children plus a dog named Tommy. Mark has served on active duty with the United States Army and continues to serve as an Infantry Instructor in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard full-time. 


Mark enjoys doing anything outside with his family including hunting, fishing, and hiking.  "If it’s outdoors, I will try it twice.” Mark is passionate about coming alongside other men and helping prepare them for the spiritual battlefield together, under the leadership of Jesus Christ.
