Deaf Ministry

Purpose and Vision:

Knowing that the Deaf are one of the largest unreached people groups in America, we offer ASL Interpreter's services to provide the Deaf and Hard of Hearing with the gospel of Jesus Christ on Sunday Mornings. Our hope is to come alongside them by nurturing them in faith and discipleship, so they are equipped to live and share the gospel within the Deaf community and further live out the mission of the church.

What to expect:

We provide an ASL interpreter on Sunday Mornings at the 10:45am service. There is a section towards the front of the sanctuary that is marked off. We have two certified ASL interpreters who volunteer their time on Sunday mornings, and other events as needed. If you'd like to be connected with someone in the deaf ministry, please fill out the contact form below.

About Jacklyn O'Brien

Jacklyn learned some PSE at a church summer camp in middle school. She continued practicing and learning from books, until a missions trip to a homeless shelter in Chicago the summer after her high school graduation. There she signed along with the worship sets every morning and on the final day a Deaf man asked her to interpret the sermon. She did her best with little skills, but the Spirit worked through her and made the message clear to that man. He encouraged her to continue learning and use her skills to reach the Deaf community for the Lord. Following that she attended Mount Aloysius College and graduated in 2009 with a BA in ASL Interpreting. She earned her NIC in 2013, and received specialized training in theater and musical interpreting the same year. Jacklyn's passion for interpreting has always been focused on the church and reaching one of the most unreached communities in America - the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

About Denise Daldo

With having two Deaf neighbors, it is no wonder why at 10 years of that I would be reading about Helen Keller and privately praying to God to let me be a teacher like Annie Sullivan was to Helen. As long as I can remember, I have had a love for the deaf. I could see their language, it all made sense to me as I now attribute this all to my Heavenly Father putting that gift in me as a little girl.

In 1974, after High School graduation, it made sense to enroll at Kutztown University where I could advance my skills by taking courses in American Sign Language. One of the assignments was: go meet with deaf people. Little did I know that the deaf person I was about to meet would be my husband and I would get to live my forever dream.  Now 48 years later, I can't even begin to tell you the adventures that I have experienced with the Deaf.
